Julius Shulman, Architecture and its Photography
by Julius Shulman
Taschen, 1998
Comments: Julius Shulman is one of the giants in the field of architectural photography. His career spanned the same period as some of the most accomplished architects of the last century and he personally knew and photographed for many of them. He worked in an era when architectural photography was developing into its own stylized form and he contributed greatly to that evolution. Some his images, such as Case Study House #22, have become iconic. This book is a very well done retrospective of his work, with historical background and anecdotes provided by Shulman himself, and including many beautiful reproductions of his best known projects.
Julius Shulman died in 2009 at the age of 98 and was still active in photography even in his later years. He was truly a genuine American cultural and creative treasure.
